A Warm Front

Craig Bellamy went to Liverpool to better himself and to win things, and if the 3rd round F.A. Cup tie against Arsenal at Anfield is anything to go by, he could be well on the way to a totally unexpected distinction – a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

This has nothing to do with what he did on the field, because ironically he did not actually appear on the field during playing time. But shrewd observers noticed that for reasons best known to himself, Liverpool boss Raffa Benitez had him warming up for so long, without ever using him, you could probably have fried an egg on him.

So unless anyone knows better, Craig Bellamy is emerging as the player who at the highest level has spent the most time warming up, without being given anything significant to warm up for.

Except perhaps a place in the book.
