Jol's Men Disappoint

The verdict of the television pundit was succinct and unequivocal. Speaking of the goalless 3rd round F.A. cup tie between Cardiff and Tottenham Hotspur, he said: “If anyone deserved to win this game, it was Cardiff.”

Spurs fans will no doubt be mortified to learn that the pundit concerned was the legendary Glenn Hoddle and his view was endorsed by another distinguished former player – Jamie Redknapp.

What’s more, they were absolutely right. Apart from a tentative first ten minutes, Cardiff City had much the better of this game. With Michael Chopra looking dangerous, they could easily have been three up before half time and after the interval they carved out more good chances for Thompson, Ledley and Scimeca.

As for Spurs, the question has to be asked – when did they look like scoring? And the answer to that is a single opportunity screwed wide by Defoe. So now they must rely on their more impressive form at White Hart Lane to see them through.
