One Law for...
What an amazing club Chelsea is. A club where in spite of the investment of hundreds of millions of pounds the squad can be decimated by injuries to a few key players. A club where a former interpreter with the gift of the gob can snub and humiliate a world class striker and be regarded as a breath of fresh air. A club where the team beats a side around 60 places and who knows how many millions of pounds below them in the scheme of things and it is celebrated as a great triumph.
For the benefit of the uninitiated, this is a club where according to the manager “Players have to work and perform. If they work and perform I love them, if they don’t work and perform, I don’t.”
Seems fair enough and in context what it means is this. Andriiy Shevchenko, who scored two goals in the 4-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers, has finally “got the message”.
Well no-one can deny that he worked hard, or that he scored two goals, or that he missed a couple of good chances. But there are some who think that he has worked hard before, without getting quite so lucky.
More importantly, there are many who wonder when Michael Ballack is going to “work and perform”. And why, so far, he seems to have been ‘loved’ without doing so.
