Whistle While You Work
What a fascinating studio full they had at White Hart Lane for Sky’s coverage of Tottenham Hotspur v Premiership leaders and title favourites Manchester United. To begin with there was ex-United midfield player and ‘people’s pundit’ Ray Wilkins, with his cutaway collar and long since cutaway hair, talking eruditely about Cantona’s “Gaelic arrogance” and gazing with ill concealed envy at Gorgeous George Graham – smugly attired in his immaculately tailored suit and not a grey hair in sight.
Unsurprisingly, anchor man Richard Keys, resplendent in a suit that simultaneously evoked memories of Al Capone and the 50 shilling tailor, attracted no such glances. So all he had left was his knowledge of the game which, to be frank, is no big issue.
