A Pinker Shade of Red

According to reports, the fact that last year Chelsea Football Club lost only £80 million is regarded at Stamford Bridge as a cause for great rejoicing. Apparently this is because in the previous year the deficit was over £140 million.

Well, that is good news. A real step in the right direction. And no doubt other Premiership clubs will be green with envy when they learn that Chelsea’s loss was so insignificant.

Though upon mature reflection the thought might occur to many of them that £80 million would be more than sufficient to run things for a year. Entirely in the black.
