Bobble, bobble, toil and trouble
Over the years many changes have taken place at Stamford Bridge but one feature has remained more or less constant. It has not acquired a reputation as a ground which has been enhanced by its playing surface. In fact, there have been occasions when the cynics have likened the playing surface to Brighton beach, without in any way flattering the Sussex resort.
But now that they’ve acquired a bit of pocket money, courtesy of their very own Russian billionaire, you’d think they might lash out and give it a makeover so that they can show off the exquisite nature of their football.
Unless for some reason they don’t want to of course.
Perhaps they are anxious to keep it authentic for the visit of Barcelona.
A clear case of an uneven pitch being a great leveller.
