Dunn Calls it a Day
Fans of Premiership football may have noticed that the familiar lumbering figure of Bristol based referee Steve Dunn has been absent from the scene for some time. There’s a very good reason for that. Steve recently announced that he would be retiring in consideration of a chronic injury. Steve will be particularly remembered by Liverpool fans for his heroic performance at the 2001 F.A. Cup final against Arsenal, when despite the fact that they had been comprehensively outplayed the Reds came from behind to triumph 2-1.
According to Dunn, that match was the highlight of his long career, but there are legions of Arsenal fans who would have chosen a different word, especially after Steve somehow managed from close range to miss a blatant handling offence by Henchoz which cried out for a penalty.
