Arsenal would obviously like to thank Alan Hansen for all the help and encouragement he has offered to Sol Campbell during his recent difficulties. Unfortunately, they can’t because the BBC football pundit has confined himself to highlighting Sol’s mistakes and casting serious doubts over the wisdom of taking him to the World Cup this summer.

In case you were in any doubt about the matter, McPundit doesn’t do sympathy and understanding, so as far as he is concerned there is clearly no such thing as a centre backs’ union. And despite a total lack of top level coaching and management experience he is never ever wrong.
