The Sound of Silence
Some people have noticed that a familiar face has been absent from our television screens recently. Coverage of Premiership football has been deprived of the outpourings of The Special One. A breath of fresh air has been lost to us (though how he managed it all in one breath remains a mystery).
Has he simply ‘done a Wright-Phillips’? Or is he in an almighty huff because he, and his team, haven’t been treated in the manner he considers they all deserve?
Perhaps he’s in a sulk because he has named the day, the day when Chelsea will win the Premiership again, and his prediction hasn’t been treated with the respect he considers due to him.
In that case someone should remind him that there is nothing original here, nothing remarkable. It is not a first. A famous and much loved boxer did it many times. We do not need to name him. Suffice it to say that he is a man whose contribution to world sport will be remembered with due reverence and with awe long after Jose Mourinho’s doings are forgotten.
