Moral Victory

Blackburn were magnificent at Spurs on Sunday. They dominated possession, played the better football, created a hatful of chances, scored two stunning goals and made nonsense of their reputation as a purely physical team.

But all of that will be scant consolation because they lost the game – thanks largely to a linesman’s mistake (Spurs’ first goal), a goalkeeping error (Keane’s second) and a bit of slack defending by Gray (the winner).

Football can be a cruel game.
