Blackburn were magnificent at Spurs on Sunday. They dominated possession, played the better football, created a hatful of chances, scored two stunning goals and made nonsense of their reputation as a purely physical team.

But all of that will be scant consolation because they lost the game thanks largely to a linesmans mistake (Spurs first goal), a goalkeeping error (Keanes second) and a bit of slack defending by Gray (the winner).

Football can be a cruel game.
