The Battle of Stamford Bridge

Rumour has it that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic has instructed manager Jose Mourinho to buy a world class striker.

That could be a major problem. There is growing evidence that the self-styled Special One is not comfortable with superstars, which is why he never buys any.

As far as Mourinho is concerned, there is room for only one superstar at Chelsea. Himself. The man formerly known as the Breath of Fresh Air. Now presumably simply The Air.

He is, reputedly, no longer chums with Chief Executive Peter Kenyon. And if he is about to follow that by falling out with Abramovic, his days at Stamford Bridge may be numbered.

Shame.
