In his post-match interview following the last North London derby at Highbury, Tottenham manager Martin Jol referred to his Arsenal counterpart as ‘Wenger’ – which, out of ignorance or incompetence, he contrived to mispronounce.

It is disappointing, to say the least, when a rookie manager who has won nothing is so dishonourable as to show conspicuous disrespect to a distinguished, articulate, courteous and universally admired manager who, unlike him, has won virtually everything.
