Back to the Abacus
Talk about simple arithmetic! West Bromwich Albion capture promising cente back Curtis Davies from Luton for £3 million in the January transfer window. Thirty three games and one lost Premiership relegation battle later, club Chairman Jeremy Peace is insisting that West Brom will take a strong line over retaining his services.
So now Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle United and other interested parties know for sure that the boy is ambitious and Albion are willing to sell, but they are looking to make a handsome profit. The question is, how much profit?
What exactly have West Bromwich Albion done for Curtis Davies? Enough to justify rumours that, far from being content with doubling their money, they are looking for more much more?
Well, theyve given him plenty of experience of defending, thats for sure. But as for the kind of profit they claim to want on their investment a few months ago, the figures just dont add up.
