Randy Lerner Drives Villa Now
An announcement has been made to the Stock Exchange that the board of Aston Villa have recommended acceptance of a £62.2 million bid for the club from 44 year old American tycoon Randy Lerner, owner of NFL side Clevedon Browns.
It signals the end of the road for ‘Deadly’ Doug Ellis after more than 30 years at Aston Villa, but in view of the fact that his last acts as Chairman have been to recruit Martin O’Neill as manager and to negotiate a deal that will bring massive investment to the club, fans may now wish to reappraise their attitude to the much maligned 82 year old.
