Pires Out for Months

Many Arsenal fans who loved watching Robert Pires will be saddened by the news that the 32 year old Frenchman, who was a massive favourite at Highbury, has torn a cruciate ligament in his left knee during a pre-season friendly against Cadiz.

This is the second time Pires has been sidelined by a serious knee injury requiring surgery and he is likely to be out of the game for at least six months.
