Heroic Everton Sink Spurs
Congratulations to David Moyes’ Everton side, who put in a monumental performance to defeat sad Spurs 2-0, despite playing an hour with 10 men after referee Mark Halsey had shown Kevin Kilbane a second yellow card.
On this occasion, no-one would have guessed that White Hart Lane has never been a happy hunting ground for Everton. They achieved their first victory there for 21 years by dominating the game with determination, organisation and commitment, taking the lead through Davenport’s 53rd minute own goal and embarrassing Spurs when a surging run from Osman allowed Phil Neville to cross for £8 million summer signing Andy Johnson to sweep the ball past England keeper Paul Robinson.
