United On A Roll
Four games into the new season, 11 goals scored and just two conceded and already they have their best ever Premiership start and are the only team in the country with a 100% record. A massive crowd of over 75,400 saw Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspur by a single goal and, ominously for their rivals, they did it without playing particularly well by their high standards. Remarkably they also accomplished it without a penalty from their favourite Old Trafford referee, Mike Riley.
It was entirely appropriate that United’s goal should be created by their two outstanding players on the day. An eighth minute free kick 30 yards out produced a swerving thunderbolt from the outstanding Ronaldo which England keeper Paul Robinson could only parry for Ryan Giggs, who seems to have acquired a new lease of life, to head high into the net.
