Learning Opportunity

Last weekend, as the man many good judges believe is the best left back in the world began his Chelsea career on the substitutes’ bench at Stamford Bridge, the bitterness continued.

Unfortunately, Ashley’s Cole’s brilliance on the football field is not matched by his intellectual powers off it. In the aftermath of his well leaked meeting with Chelsea he lamented Arsenal’s lack of loyalty towards him and saw no irony in that. He was embittered by what he regarded as Arsenal’s refusal to pay him what he considered he was worth, but after signing for Chelsea insisted that the move was nothing to do with money. According to reports, he enviously accused Arsenal of treating him “like the invisible man” while wining and dining Thierry Henry. And perhaps most extraordinary of all, he claimed that it was Arsene Wenger who found his new club for him – adding that he also turned down Real Madrid.

Hopefully, in time Ashley Cole will come to realise how much Arsenal have done to help him to fulfil his potential and become the wonderful player he is.
