What A Picture!
If those nice people at Sky ever feel the need to bring a little extra colour to their excellent coverage of top class football, and at the same time to explore a slightly different angle, here’s a thought for the programme planners. Why not put together a feature on the sartorial journey of anchor man Richard Keys through the seasons.
Long term viewers of Sky will no doubt recall those early days when more often than not Richard was so vividly clad he looked like the captain of a banana boat on a spot of shore leave, dressed to kill - or at the very least to glare. Then little by little a more sober and conservative image began to emerge, so that eventually he was so inoffensively attired he seemed to be entering his ‘family solicitor period’, until suddenly there he was at Anfield, presenting Sky’s coverage of Liverpool v Spurs in what can only be described as his Al Capone suit.
If ‘gravitas’ was what he was aiming for, unfortunately he missed by a country mile. He looked for all the world like a funereal deckchair, striped up to the nines.
Let’s face it. They simply have to make the programme.
