Eight More Fabulous Years

It’s hard to believe that the brilliant Cesc Fabgregas is still a teenager and it’s even harder to believe that lumbering Frank Lampard (who is far from being a teenager) regularly makes the shortlist for the FIFA World Player of the Year award and the 19 year old Arsenal star doesn’t - but there is no accounting for lack of taste.

Gunners fans, on the other hand, know the value of the young Spaniard and they will be ecstatic about the news that Cesc has signed a fabulous new eight year contract that will make him an Arsenal player until 2014. Real Madrid will no doubt be distraught to hear this – but at least the fact that Cesc will be around for a long time gives the likes of Lampard the chance to pick up a few tips on how to play in midfield without always passing square and backwards.

As for the lad himself, it’s clear from his comments on the club’s website that he’s pleased with the ways things have worked out: “I am so happy here and I am delighted to have signed this new contract…I wanted to pay back the club, especially Arsene Wenger for the support and faith he has shown in me.”
