Quick to Judge

According to reports, there were people at The Emirates who booed Thierry Henry when Arsenal played Everton. What’s more, they were not fans of the visiting team.

And because Everton shut up shop and defended for their lives, Arsenal ended up with one point instead of three and that, in some quarters, was enough to warrant major criticism – including the regurgitation of all that tosh about not having a ‘Plan B’ and a lot of premature ejaculation about the Premiership suddenly becoming a two horse race.

Certain generalisations can safely be made about all these people. First, they do not deserve Thierry Henry. Second, they most certainly do not deserve Arsene Wenger, or his team. And third, they probably do deserve Everton – though after a few weeks, they may regret it.

Fortunately, there are by contrast many thousands of people who know that there are just two teams which are really worth watching in the Premiership – Arsenal and Manchester United. At their best, the football they play is irresistible and even when they are not quite at their best, it is infinitely more rewarding to watch them draw or lose than to witness others grinding out a tedious victory.
