Frank's One-Off

It is inevitable that Chelsea’s much hyped midfielder Frank Lampard would be asked if the equalising goal he scored at the Camp Nou in the European Champions League game against Barcelona was a stroke of genius, or a spot of luck. You know, the one where he was driven wide and from an impossibly acute angle he delicately chipped the ball over the stranded Spanish keeper into the far corner of the net.

According to Frank, he meant it and it’s no big deal. He looked up, saw that he had no-one to cross the ball to and just did what he practises after training every day. Pretty routine, actually.

So routine, in fact, that we can’t recall him doing it in any other big match.

Funny, that.
