A Question of Judgement
Here are three questions posed by Talk Sport’s Adrian Durham on ‘The Game’. They concern Arsenal’s Champions League game against CSKA Moscow at The Emirates, in which the Gunners produced some of the finest football ever seen in this country and drew 0-0 because the only thing they couldn’t do on the night was finish.
How come all the Gooners left early?
How many chances did Arsenal miss?
Does Thierry Henry have the right to tell them not to moan during the game and not to leave early?
These questions tell you all you need to know about Adrian Durham’s knowledge of football, which is in inverse proportion to his arrogance. They are so puerile that they do not deserve a response, but in the interest of education we will provide one.
First, “all” the Gooners did not leave early and many of those who did so left because of transport problems rather than anything to do with the game.
Second, Arsenal missed over 20 chances – the only aspect of their football that fell short of perfection.
Third, Thierry Henry is the captain of Arsenal Football Club, an intelligent and articulate man and a world class striker who knows a great deal about football and is held in the highest esteem throughout the game.
In all those respects, he is the very antithesis of Adrian Durham.
