Sour Gripes
A most revealing post-match interview was conducted with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho after their 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane – the second the Premiership Champions have endured this season and it’s still early November.
Predictably, he insisted that Chelsea did not deserve to lose and (surprise, surprise) claimed he had “a lot of complaints” – all of them apparently directed at referee Graham Poll, who had the temerity to give decisions against Chelsea and even to send their captain off.
Never one for exaggeration, Mourinho declared emphatically that “Every decision was against us” (cue violins) and unsurprisingly, subsequent comments attributed to John Terry, Frank Lampard and ‘new blue’ Ashley Cole (he’s settled in quickly) are also critical of Graham Poll.
Another lesson in losing graciously from the discredit and destabilise formation team.
