Plain Chocolate
It’s difficult to understand why Spurs were determined to give their ghastly chocolate away strip another outing after their embarrassing 3-1 defeat at Reading’s Madejski Stadium. Perhaps they are short of money.
Whatever the thinking, things weren’t much better at Ewood Park against Blackburn. They fell behind in the 22nd minute to an unstoppable 30 yard volley from Rovers’ veteran midfielder Tugay and it took a penalty from Defoe forty minutes later to earn them a fortunate point.
For all their strengths (King, Dawson, Keane, Lennon, Berbatov) Spurs have a number of weaknesses which must be addressed if they are to be more than a mid-table Premiership side. Robinson’s performances have become very inconsistent. Y P Lee is no substitute for Chimbonda. Huddlestone is one paced – a sort of Lampard on stilts. The dreadlocked Davids is out of gas. Mido has lost weight but gained nothing in speed or skill. And players like Assou-Ekotto and Ghaly do not compare favourably with squad members at the top four clubs.
The clock is ticking.
