Shuffle Bored
The relevant statistics for shuffling Frank Lampard’s performance in the first half of Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford make interesting reading.
Total passes – 19, of which 11 (approximately 59%) were directed sideways or backwards. Overall success rate – 63% (comprising 5/8 sideways, 3/3 backwards, 4/8 forwards). Add to that one unsuccessful free kick and one unsuccessful shot at goal.
Naturally, these figures do not directly reflect the persistent attention of Paul Scholes, which Frank found irksome throughout the game.
It must also be conceded that the statistics for the second half would have been more impressive, but these are not available because by half time boredom had set in.
