Sour Gripes

Sky’s coverage of Bolton Wanderers’ clash (definitely the right word) with Arsenal at the Reebok Stadium featured the comments of ex-Gunner David Platt, who lost no time in declaring rather pompously that he is not convinced by Arsenal’s title credentials and ventured to suggest that in his opinion Arsene Wenger hasn’t got the balance of his side right.

In view of Platt’s disastrous managerial record at Nottingham Forest and subsequently with the England Under 21 side, it may safely be assumed that these observations, like the almost uninterrupted eulogy of Bolton provided by Brian Marwood (another ex-Arsenal man but one who would never in a million years got into Arsene Wenger’s squad) will be of no interest whatsoever to the Gunners’ manager.

It is, however, deeply disappointing that two former players appear to have such a limited understanding of everything that Arsene Wenger has achieved at the club.
