The fact that David Bentley had a more than useful game against his old club when Blackburn Rovers visited the Emirates Stadium for the first time has prompted one or two journalists who clearly do not know as much about the game as they think they do to go well over the top. Perhaps it was the penalty he ‘won’. Perhaps it was a couple of decent shots that brought the best out of Jens Lehmann.

Whatever it was, in no time at all they’re awarding him eight out of ten and suggesting that Arsene Wenger might be wishing he hadn’t let the boy go – or, as Antony Kastrinakis put it in the News of the World: “If he keeps playing like this, Arsenal might want him back.”

And who does Antony Kastrinakis imagine might be axed to make way for him? Alexander Hleb? Tomas Rosicky? Freddie Ljungberg? Cesc Fabregas? Julio Baptista?
