If You Can't Beat Them
You can always rely on Spurs boss Martin Jol. According to reports, he had no plans to be active in the transfer window, so as soon as it began to open he signed two players.
First there was 17 year old Adel Taarabt, who is on loan from Lens – another midfield player to add to the club’s extremely large collection. Then he snapped up Sunderland goalkeeper Ben Alnwick for a reported £1.3 million.
Interestingly enough, hardly anyone has heard of either of them. Perhaps now that Jol has Daniel Comolli (who used to work for Arsene Wenger) on board, he’s trying to unearth a gem or two.
Further proof that imitation really is the most sincere form of flattery.
