Middlesbrough – McClaren is the Name of the
Gain
Apparently, it’s official. Steve McClaren is the most successful
manager in Middlesbrough’s history. Who says so? No less an authority
than Steve McClaren it seems. And modest Steve has done such a good
job that the fans are just flocking to the Riverside Stadium, attracted
no doubt by the exhilarating, free flowing football his team consistently
produces.
Nowhere is this more evident than in their European campaign. On
15th September, their home game against FC Xanthi pulled in a massive
14,191 and already a few of them are clamouring for tickets to the
return fixture at the end of the month.
Imagine their elation at reports of Steve’s new four year contract
at Boro. And the desperate disappointment of England fans at the
prospect of missing out on such a charismatic manager. Not to mention
the exciting, entertaining football which has become his trademark.
