Power Points

There’s been a lot of talk lately about player power. Some people have even gone so far as to suggest that a few of the more persuasive members of the England gang have been bending Sven’s ear on the subject of which formation to fly in. This in turn prompted denials from both the England captain and the England manager – denials so strenuous as to recall that old Shakespearean line about ‘protesting too much’.

So, in the unlikely event that there is some truth in the rumour, perhaps Sven should be referred to one of the most famous quotes attributed to the late, great Brian Clough (a man who for some reason the FA considered unsuitable to manage England). On the subject of what he did when a player disagreed with him, Brian apparently said:

“We sit down and talk about it for 20 minutes, then we decide I was right.”
