Like a Red Rag.....
Nobody could accuse Manchester United captain Gary Neville of restraint and decorum in his celebrations after their 1-0 victory over bitter rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford.
On the final whistle he hared over to the Liverpool fans and stood before them – legs astride, arms pumping, eyes popping, screaming “Yes!” repeatedly and ostentatiously kissing the United badge.
Judge for yourself whether this was a piece of innocent over-exuberance or an act of calculated provocation perpetrated by a player whose antipathy towards Scousers is well documented. Certainly it was enough to provoke a written complaint from Manchester police and an F.A. charge of improper conduct.
The case continues.
