The Guessing Game

If you believe all the rumours, Arsenal are going to have to be ready for more than a change of home when they move from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium at the end of this season.

With Arsene Wenger off to Real Madrid, there’ll be a new manager of course.

And a new captain – because, as all the papers and the television and radio sports programmes have told us, endlessly, Thierry Henry is off to Barcelona.

Then there’s Ashley Cole, for so long earmarked by Real Madrid as successor to Roberto Carlos. Not to mention Cesc Fabregas, who has impressed the Spanish giants in recent Champions League games.

With Denis Bergkamp hanging up his boots and Robert Pires probably off to Italy, that’s almost half a team. Just for starters.

That is, if you believe all the rumours.

But if you believe all the rumours, you must disbelieve Arsene Wenger and you must disbelieve Thierry Henry.

In which case, you probably aren’t an Arsenal fan. And consequently you won’t know that when real Arsenal people give their word, they keep it.
