Robbie Fowlers return to Anfield was a dream move for the player and when he weighed in with some vital goals, it seemed likely that he would be offered the new contract which clearly meant so much to him.

But as the days passed, the prospects began to look bleak and there were many good judges who felt that Raffa Benitez had already made up his mind not to retain the Liverpool legend.

Then suddenly the Liverpool boss proved two things hes not easy to read and he does have the power to surprise. And the outcome was that a delighted Robbie Fowler was offered a one year contract, which he couldnt wait to sign.
