In the midst of all the ongoing rumour and speculation about the futures of Thierry Henry, Robert Pires and Ashley Cole, a story has broken recently which will lift the spirits of Gunners fans everywhere because according to reports, the one man Arsenal simply cannot afford to lose has suggested that, far from moving on when his contract ends in two years time, he is contemplating staying long enough to end his career with the club.

Many people believe that Arsene Wenger has been by some distance the greatest manager in Arsenals illustrious history (no mean achievement when you consider the contributions of men like Herbert Chapman, Tom Whittaker and George Graham) and all of them will hope and pray that the man who has revolutionised the club he fell in love with, and brought it so much success, will stay for many years. Because from the Board of Directors right down to the youngest fan, they simply do not want to face the future without him.
