Heartbreak for Cisse

A week ago Djibril Cisse was looking forward to representing France in the World Cup finals in Germany and after that, the possibility of a transfer to Marseilles and a new start.

It took 10 minutes of France’s last warm-up game to shatter those dreams, as an innocuous looking tackle by a Chinese defender left Cisse writhing in agony. He knew from bitter experience what a broken leg feels like and even after he had been stretchered off, his team mates were visibly shaken.

He is unlikely to play before the end of the year and until that time he will remain a Liverpool player – one of the unluckiest they have.
